Sculptra® contains a special synthetic material known as poly L lactic acid, or PLLA. For more than 10 years, the medical community has relied on PLLA-based dissolvable sutures to help support the healing process after surgery. Based on the proven effects of PLLA, Sculptra® was developed to provide a unique treatment that corrects problems that are caused by fat loss under the skin, including sagging, drooping, and a “too thin” appearance. Replenishing the skin’s volume also affects the way light falls on the face, giving a more youthful and beautiful appearance.

Sculptra® uses the powerful benefits of PLLA to build a structure under the skin and to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. Full results develop over the course of three months as the collagen adds volume to the skin. Typically, the results from Sculptra® treatments last up to two years and Sculptra® is safe enough to have repeat treatments for longer-lasting results. It is injected into the deep dermis of the skin. The number and locations of the injections are based upon the extent of correction.
