Ultherapy® in Rochester, NY
What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment for lifting the skin on the brow, chin, neck, and smooth’s wrinkles on the décolletage. It is the only treatment of its type to be approved by the FDA. Ultherapy® uses ultrasound to lift and firm loose skin over time. Patients that undergo this skin tightening procedure do not need any downtime.
How Does Ultherapy® Work?
Ultherapy® uses focused energy to deliver non-invasive heat to deep tissue without disturbing the skin’s surface. The ultrasound causes a response that triggers the growth of new collagen that helps to lift and tighten the skin over time. The results are gradual and progress over a two to three month period. Improvements can continue to be seen up to six months after the procedure.

How is Ultherapy® Different From Other Cosmetic Procedures?
Ultherapy® has the designation of being the only non-invasive, cosmetic treatment that utilizes focused ultrasound to promote the growth of the skin’s collagen cells. The collagen production increases gradually, so it takes about three to six months to become obvious. For the majority of patients, the procedure takes around an hour. Patients who undergo this procedure are not required to undertake any downtime
Ultherapy® is the only cosmetic procedure to use ultrasound imaging. Ultrasound imaging lets physicians see the layers of tissue they are targeting. This ensures that the energy is placed in areas where it will achieve the most effectiveness.
How Long Does It Last?
Within a year of the Ultherapy® treatment, patients will have younger collagen. The ultrasound treatment does not prevent the skin from aging. Having periodic touch-up procedures will help hold off the aging process. The rate of aging is different from one person to the next.
How Many Treatments Does it Take?
Most patients only require one treatment. However, having more than one treatment may be beneficial to some patients. Whether or not some people will want additional treatments depends on their body’s response to the ultrasound, their laxity and the effectiveness of the collagen building process.
Who is a Good Candidate for Ultherapy®?
The ideal candidate will be someone with skin that has some laxity. The skin may appear or feel less firm. One sign of maturing skin is sagging skin around the eyelids and a lowered eyebrow line. People with skin under their chin and neck that is loose are also good candidates. Typical patients are in their 30’s and older with a mild to moderate skin laxity.
Ultherapy® is not a substitute for a surgical facelift. However, this is a good alternative for those who are not financially, mentally or physically ready. The procedure may also interest younger people who want to prevent the signs of aging and people who want to maintain the effects of prior cosmetic procedures.
What about Treating Anatomical Regions Other Than the Face?
No. Ultherapy® is designed to lift the skin on the chin, brow, and neck.
How Does Ultherapy® Stimulate the Creation of Collagen?
Collagen helps the skin remain firm and keep a youthful appearance. As we get older, the strength of collagen diminishes, and the skin begins to sag. Ultherapy® treatment involves using ultrasound to create a heat affect to treat the tissue underneath the skin. The therapy initiates the repair and strengthening of existing collagen. It also creates new collagen.
Can Men Have it Done?
Yes. Ultherapy® is recommended for both men and women.
