Micro-needling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) also know as the “Vampire Lift” is performed using a device called a Rejuvapen ®. First, blood will be drawn from the patient and the patient’s platelets will be separated out using a centrifuge. Then tretinoin (Retin-A) and Vitamin C (a potent anti-oxidant for the skin) will be mixed with the Platelet Rich Plasma. The plasma will then be introduced into the epidermis and dermis with the Rejuvapen® which uses micro-needles to pierce the skin. The Rejuvapen®, platelets, tretinoin and Vitamin C all work together to stimulate the body to produce collagen to repair the treated areas. The platelets specifically when activated by micro-needling release growth factors that promote skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction and scar improvement. The course of the micro-needling treatment is dependent on the patient’s and clinician’s goals. Most patients achieve repair after 4 treatments done 2 weeks apart and choose monthly maintenance treatments as the results as so astonishing.
